From the Director's Desk:
I had a wonderful summer in Michigan. It was great to see my family
and friends again in the U.S. I was able to catch some sports events
which my grandchildren participated in. In August, I had the opportunity
to go to Canada to attend the wedding of Guerline MacLoud, the daughter
of Dr. Bibiana and Sandy MacLeod whom I used to work with in Haiti.
I also spoke in many churches where I was able to share about our
ministry here in Haiti. It was great to be home.
However, it is great to be back in Haiti again, too. This year
I will begin my sixteenth year here. There was little time for me
to catch my breath from packing and traveling before the work started.
The schools were all waiting to be paid, uniforms needed to be made,
books needed to be bought and the Supplemental Food had already
been delivered and was waiting to be distributed. I am so grateful
for a wonderful staff who were here immediately to pitch in to get
everything underway again. They were all ready to start working
the same day I arrived.
Our biggest challenge was getting a new license for the truck so
we could drive it. Since there was no government last January when
we shipped the Ford truck in, we were not able to get a lecense
plate for it or complete some of the paperwork. Somehow my identity
was lost in the computer, but thank goodness for former English
students who work in those government offices who vouched for my
identity and helped me get through the process. We now have at least
one vehicle back on the road.
We appreciate Tom Hanna's help in trying to get a transmission
for our other truck. Our work is so much easier when all our vehicles
are working.
We are still waiting for our cargo to arrive via Missionary Flights
International from Ft. Pierce, FL. They said there was over a ton
waiting in their warehouse ready to be shipped to us. I was glad
when my house got cleared out, as it had looked like a warehouse
since early August. We could hardly get the back door shut on the
U-Haul truck which we rented to haul the boxes to UPS. It was really
a backbreaking job to get all these boxes packed and shipped. We
really appreciate all the people who pitched in with this major
undertaking.
THANK YOU:
Thanks to all of you who donated items to fill all these boxes,
too. The joy on the children's faces when they received their new
clothes, shoes, school and hygiene packets and toys is well worth
all the effort and money. They will especially like the little stuffed
animals that so many of you collected and donated. We will give
most of them out to the malnourished children when they come to
get there supplemental food products. Most of them have no toys
except for what they can make themselves out of sticks and tin cans
and animal bones.

May God Richly Bless You,
Dorothy Frederickson
